- Staff Absences Policy
— ADOG is instituting this policy in the event that either an instructor or assistant is going to be absent for a class they have committed to staff.
First and foremost, it is your responsibility to find a replacement. Instructors are not responsible for finding a replacement for their assistant.
— Give at least a one week notice.
— If you are an assistant don’t assume that the instructor can manage without you (even if there are two assistants). ADOG’s goal is to minimize the time students spend idly waiting for something to happen. This may mean moving equipment, setting up distractions, restraining puppies for a recall, attaching long lines; any number of tasks. There is also the matter of making sure students are alert and ready to take their turn at an exercise.
Do not send a blanket e-mail in search of your replacement. Everyone hopes someone else will step up and thus no one replies. Ann can provide an e-mail list of staff members for you to send individual emails. Try talking to someone who is there the same night that your class meets.
— If you are an instructor, provide a class plan for your replacement.
— If you must cancel your class, all students have to agree on a date. Everyone deserves the 6 classes that they have paid for. Ann can provide an email list of your students or you can get them from your roster.
